Another Sacramento Midtown Bike Accident

Another truck accident in Sacramento seriously injures a bicyclist.

In our hustle and bustle of everyday life, it seems like accidents involving trucks are becoming more common here in Sacramento.    So often, drivers are spending more time focusing on getting to their destination quickly, instead of focusing on safety.   While we do not yet know why the accident happened, or who was at fault for the accident, we can only hope that if truck drivers would slow down and pay a little closer attention these things could be avoided.

As personal injury attorneys, we regularly argue and explain to jurors and courts about who has to right-of-way, or who has to yield.   However, in this situation both the driver and the bike rider are wishing they had both yielded the right-of-way.

Midtown Sacramento cyclist seriously injured in collision with city garbage truck

A cyclist riding in midtown Sacramento this morning was seriously injured after colliding with a city garbage truck, according to police.

The cyclist, an adult man, was transported to the hospital but is expected to survive, said police Officer Doug Morse.

No crime is suspected in the collision, which Morse described as a “tragic accident.”

The collision occurred before 9 a.m. at the intersection of 21st Street and Capitol Avenue, Morse said. The cyclist and the garbage truck were both traveling northbound on 21st Street when the driver attempted to make a left turn onto Capitol Boulevard. The truck and the cyclist then collided.

The cause of the investigation is still under investigation, Morse said.”  As reported on www.sacbee.com

Once the cyclist is better, there will undoubtedly be tons of questions beyond fault.  There will be questions of physical rehabilitation, payments for medical bills, employer-employee responsibility, and whether or not the cyclist automobile policy provides benefits.   We sincerely hope the rider hires an experienced personal injury attorney to assist in resolving these questions, rather than trying to do it themselves.  If you are someone you know has been injured, please do not hesitate to call one of the personal injury attorneys at Eason & Tambornini, A Law Corporation.
