Collision and Car Fire along Highway 50 in Sacramento Kills 18-Year-Old

On August 25th, 2021, police responded to a two-car accident along Highway 50 near the Howe Ave on-ramp in Sacramento. When police arrived at the scene, officers found two vehicles engulfed in flames in the far-right lane. After an investigation, police determined that one of the vehicles involved in the accident, a Jeep, became disabled for unknown reasons. Later, a Ford driver who did not see the disabled Jeep crashed into the vehicle, causing both cars to become engulfed in flames. The driver of the Ford was unharmed, while the driver of the Jeep, an 18-year-old male, succumbed to his injuries. The identity of the 18-year-old male who died in the crash is still pending release. His family is likely to pursue a wrongful death suit against the other involved driver who survived the crash. Sacramento Police Department is continuing to investigate.
