Man Drives ATV Illegally and Suffers Head Trauma

Driving All-Terrain Vehicles (ATV) is an extremely popular recreational activity. When operated properly, they can be a lot of fun. As with any motorized vehicle, they can also be extremely dangerous to the driver and to those around them. Recently, a man decided to take his ATV on a public street. After fixing it, he wanted to test it out. As innocent as this seems, it is illegal to drive an ATV on a public street. His poor judgment resulted in an accident that nearly cost him his own life, caused damage to other people’s property, and could have injured or killed innocent people.

“A city man riding a four-wheel, all-terrain vehicle crashed into two parked cars on Fairview Avenue Saturday afternoon and was hospitalized with a serious head injury, relatives said.

… Initial reports from county dispatchers said the man had suffered major trauma and landed under a vehicle.

The driver has not yet been identified by police but he was listed in stable condition, according to Sgt. Jim Mummau at 7 p.m. A man at the scene who identified himself as the man’s cousin said his cousin, in his 30s, was being treated at the hospital for swelling of the brain from the accident.

The relative said the driver had just fixed the ATV in his garage and was testing it when the accident happened.

It is not legal to drive an ATV on public roads.” – lancasteronline.com
